Love & Lustre Post

13.11.2020 – A cheer for boutiques

BF Rose 25

As we count down to Christmas there’s no better time to open up retail! Now we can finally celebrate, Australia wide, yep even including us in Melbourne! Here is a quick shout out in celebration of Boutique Owners!

We can now breathe a sigh of relief, however the overwhelming strain and stress retailers were under during the Covid lockdown will not be forgotten quickly. Especially hard hit were those boutiques where the personal touch is paramount meaning most customers need to try on underwear and sleepwear in store before they make a purchase.

We spoke to a Love&Lustre boutique stockist about how they've coped during Covid and how they feel now to be open.

nicole Nicole from Nicole Lingerie in Malvern originally struggled during lockdown, "As a business where 90% of customers predominantly try on underwear or nightwear, we struggled during the Covid 19 lockdown".

It is a relief to both boutique owners and customers to have the freedom to venture out and live a normal life. "Since reopening, the support from our customers has been incredibly overwhelming. Our customers have returned saying they’ve missed our personal service, pleased we have resumed our fitting consultations and expressed how much they have missed retail and the shopping experience in general".

Retailers will do anything to stay open and are committed to providing a safe environment for staff and customers. "Shopping may be a little different right now but we want to continue to stay open. We follow a strict Covid safe process. Besides mandatory mask wearing. No one enters the store without scanning our QR code or writes their details down and hand sanitises. This is for the safety of both our staff and customers", says Nicole.

shop What boutiques love and miss are the in person conversations with you, their customers. So pop in to your local lingerie boutique and say hi. It’s fabulous to see that people can venture out again and show their support for their local businesses. Lets celebrate the end of lockdown with a nice pair knickers or PJ’s!!
